Open Peeps — Free Hand-Drawn Character Illustration Library

About this resource

Open Peeps is a free hand-drawn character illustration library created by Pablo Stanley. The system works like a set of modular vector building blocks, allowing designers to combine heads, hairstyles, emotions, arms, legs, clothing, accessories and poses to create custom characters. The library offers more than 584,000 possible combinations. Users can change hairstyles, eyewear, facial hair, expressions, colors and body poses, with ready-made Busts, Standing and Sitting compositions available for faster use. Open Peeps works well for product illustration, onboarding, empty states, user flows, personas, storyboards, presentations, marketing materials, websites, apps, social content, comics and print. Its black-and-white visual style can also be recolored to match a brand or design system. The library can be edited in Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD and other vector design tools. Ready-made Peeps are available as PNG and SVG files, while the full illustration system can also be used through Blush for faster character building and customization. Open Peeps was created by Pablo Stanley as part of the Open Doodles project. It is especially useful for UI/UX and web designers, illustrators, brand designers, marketers and startups looking for friendly, flexible characters with a very permissive license.
