Ransom note — magazine-cutout lettering

About this resource

Ransom note turns typed text into a collage of mismatched magazine letters. Its creator uses photographs of real paper cuttings rather than one font that imitates the look. The deliberately irregular result can inspire a poster, cover or experimental headline. Enter a phrase in Text to see it assembled from cutouts. Re-roll chooses a new combination, while clicking an individual letter substitutes another variant of that character. Letters can also be dragged away from the baseline. Chaos controls adjust tilt and vertical displacement. Layout changes scale variation, spacing and overall size. Small adjustments help preserve readability; stronger settings create a more disorderly composition. Copy PNG prepares a raster result. When image copying is unsupported, the interface provides PNG saving as a fallback. Available characters depend on the cutout collection: unsupported characters may appear as gaps, so check the complete phrase. The tool opens without payment or registration. Its page exposes implementation snippets and credits a Resource Boy letter collection. That does not replace checking the applicable asset and code licences; verify their terms before commercial use.

Usage and licensing

Free web tool. The author credits Resource Boy’s Ransom Note Letters pack; its complete licence terms were not independently verified in this review. Visible code and available PNG output do not automatically establish unrestricted commercial rights.

Check the creator’s current terms before using this resource.
