Sfumato – Generative Patterns & Gradients
A browser-based studio for creating layered abstract backgrounds with patterns, gradients, textures, lighting and animation.

Loom is an experimental browser editor for abstract graphics made from coloured cells and fine vertical lines. It offers a starting point for posters, covers and animated backgrounds, with direct control over the structure and colour of the composition. Field fills the frame with a mosaic, while Scatter leaves gaps between elements. You can choose yarn colours and their relative shares, then adjust cell size, density, spacing and rounded corners. A seed keeps a particular layout reproducible; Shuffle gives you a new arrangement. Pixelate samples a photo into coloured cells. Around keeps the photo inside a mosaic surround. Weft takes a different approach, building fine gradient bars along an editable path. Their width, depth and uneven edges can be adjusted without constructing every line by hand. Flicker, Ripple, Spiral and Scan provide different motion behaviours. Additional controls change the weave, drift and opacity pulse. Playback can be paused for a static composition or used to explore animated variations. The editor offers PNG and JPG images, SVG artwork, and MP4 or WebM video. Its interface includes image resolutions up to 8K and video up to 4K, with export availability dependent on browser capabilities. The tool is accessible without payment or sign-in.
