Kern Type — a kerning practice game
A free browser game for developing an eye for letter spacing: reposition letters, receive a score and compare your result with a reference solution.

Type Games is a typography arcade on Typeyeah, run by Josh Grigg. Interactive exercises encourage attention to letterforms and their spacing. Everything opens in the browser, without installing software or creating an account. Serif or Sans asks you to classify type before the timer expires. Guess the Font presents a specimen with four possible typeface names. The first focuses on letter structure; the second builds familiarity with distinctive features of individual families. In Kern It, drag the middle letters of a word until its spacing looks balanced. Checking reveals green outlines showing the font’s reference positioning. A session contains five words and produces an average score, making it possible to notice recurring difficulties with particular combinations of letterforms. Off the Baseline adds a lighter arcade exercise: the letter a jumps over punctuation along a baseline. A useful starting order is Serif or Sans, followed by spacing practice in Kern It, then typeface recognition. These short activities can serve as a warm-up before working on typography. All four games are advertised as free in modern desktop, tablet and phone browsers. A mouse or trackpad makes precise letter dragging easier. The site includes advertising and affiliate links. Free arcade access does not license the fonts in its wider directory for commercial use; check those terms separately.
The games are free and require no account. Typeyeah is owned by Josh Grigg. No blanket open license for code, graphics or fonts is stated; each typeface remains subject to its own license.
