Typeyeah Type Games — a typography arcade
Four browser mini-games for practicing kerning, recognizing typefaces and serifs, and playing with the text baseline.

Kern Type is a learning game by Method of Action about kerning: adjusting the space between individual pairs of letters. Its short typography exercises ask you to make a word feel visually balanced. The game runs in a browser without installation or a required account. In each exercise, the outer letters stay fixed while the inner letters can move horizontally. This focuses attention on how neighboring letterforms influence the apparent space between them. The aim is visually consistent spacing, which does not necessarily mean mathematically equal gaps. Press Done to receive a score from 0 to 100. You can switch between your arrangement, the proposed solution and an overlay of both to see where they differ. Each specimen also credits its typeface, designer and year. Keyboard controls support precise adjustments: Tab and Shift+Tab switch between letters, while arrow-key shortcuts move them in 1px or 10px increments. The current release also supports touch interaction; its official change log documents improvements for mobile devices and landscape orientation. Kern Type is useful for a quick practice session before working on headlines, logos or large typographic compositions. Scores measure closeness to the game’s chosen reference, so use them as feedback on the exercise. Method of Action is now developed by Mark MacKay; its early games began as a collaboration with María Munuera.
The game is free to play. No overall license permitting reuse of its code, graphics or other materials was found on the reviewed official pages. Free access does not establish an open license; the terms of the separate Method Draw editor do not automatically apply to this game.
