Sfumato – Generative Patterns & Gradients
A browser-based studio for creating layered abstract backgrounds with patterns, gradients, textures, lighting and animation.

Merucav is a browser-based design tool for building compositions from procedural shaders. Its visual workspace brings together flowing gradients, kaleidoscopic patterns, noise and other shader effects, making it useful for exploring abstract backgrounds and visual directions without writing shader code. The shader controls let you adjust individual effects through parameters such as opacity, position, rotation and scale. Colour and motion controls vary by shader: Flow, for example, exposes RGB channels, hue, saturation, speed, detail and twist. You can enable different effects and see how their settings change the composition. Shapes, text and icons can be added alongside the shader background. The effects panel includes grain, scanlines and an optional overlay with blur, lightening, darkening, skew and colour inversion. Additional noise controls give you another way to change the surface and character of a design. Export & Config shows the composition's settings as JSON. Save that text to keep a particular setup, then paste it into the Import tab to restore it later. This configuration workflow is useful when you want to revisit a visual experiment or keep several variations; it is the export format verified in the current interface. The hosted editor opens without registration or payment. No paid plan or usage quota was displayed during the review. The project is publicly available on GitHub under Northstrix, with Maxim Bortnikov named as its creator, so developers can also inspect the implementation and adapt the application. Licensing needs a separate check before using a particular shader in a client or commercial project. Merucav's application code is MIT-licensed, but bundled shaders can carry different terms, including Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike licences. Use Credit & Info and the repository's third-party licence files to check the chosen shader rather than assuming the application's MIT licence covers every visual component.
The application is MIT-licensed. Individual shaders and third-party components have their own terms, including CC BY-NC-SA 3.0/4.0 licences with non-commercial restrictions. Check the chosen shader in Credit & Info and the repository's Third-Party Licenses before use.
